Saah lays claim to Cambridge role

He told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "There is an opportunity for someone to step up into that position and make it their own.

"At the moment I've been given the shirt and until further notice that's what I'm going to do."

A 5-1 loss to Mansfield and a goalless stalemate with Histon over the Christmas period persuaded boss Martin Ling to reshuffle his side.

4-2-3-1 in my opinion is the formation that suits our team best. It was so effective against Huddersfield

Saah was moved forward to play alongside Paul Carden in midfield and since then the U's have registered back-to-back away league victories.

The position is not unfamiliar to Saah, who played in the middle of park under Ling during their time at Leyton Orient.

"I used to play there earlier on in my career, I made my debut there," he said. "But towards the latter stage of my career I've turned myself into a centre-back.

"But we need to start winning games first and foremost, the two games we've had away from home have been tricky games. We've stood up to it, done well and come through with flying colours."
